Months before its spigot of private investment dollars is turned off, it’s helping build 2 neighborhoods in the southeast part of the city.

In a city that desperately needs first-time-buyer homes for the teachers, firefighters and other folks who power Dallas, the long-challenged GrowSouth Fund will announce Thursday that it is fueling two brand-new housing developments — just months before its spigot of private investment dollars is turned off. 

You forgot about the GrowSouth Fund, didn’t you? Or you never wrapped your head around it to begin with — understandable, given it was just one piece of a mind-numbing, if well-intentioned, bureaucratic maze of strategies for southern Dallas.
